Delaware Vet Fest, an outdoor festival to honor our Veterans will take place this Saturday, May 7th at the Town of Whitehall as a venue to bring the civilian community, veterans and active duty military closer together to enjoy the day and bring hope to our nation’s heroes. Additionally, Vet Fest will kick off the #22in22Challenge. Every day 22 veterans and one active duty soldier take their own lives. That’s a staggering 130,000 since September 11th.
The 22in22 Challenge is a way to create awareness within the general public of the soldier suicide epidemic in the United States. Teams or individuals pledge to run, walk, skip or jump 22 miles in 22 days in order to raise awareness and funds to Stop Soldier Suicides.
Vet Fest will feature music by Davey Dickens Jr. and The Troubadours, Dr. Harmonica & Rocket 88, Blue Cat Blues, Club Phred and Concrete Charlie. There will be food, beverages and entertainment from 12 to 6pm. All proceeds will benefit the StopSoldierSuicide.org. Cost is $15 per person, $22 for family(up to 4 persons) and free for all military with ID.
If you’re a biker, there will be an escorted ‘Ride to Delaware Vet Fest’ leaving Rommel Harley-Davidson in New Castle, Delaware at 10:30 am. Cost is $15 or $22 with passenger and proceeds will also benefit StopSoldierSuicide.org. The ride is free for all military.
